Why is my window cleaner leaving my windows wet?

July 30th 2026

We’re here to explain why not to be concerned with your window cleaner walking away leaving the windows dripping wet if they use pure water as part of their cleaning process.

If your window cleaner is using pure water then they will likely leave the windows wet and you will see a spotless, streak-free finish after the windows have dried. This is because pure water is water that has been through purification ensuring it contains no dissolved minerals, salts, chemicals, and biological contaminants. When a surface or window is cleaned, the pure water can be used during the process and with the final rinse, and no drying is required!

Our water, at Spotless Water, has been through multiple purification processes to reach 0 TDS (zero dissolved solids within the water) and we monitor the TDS within our filling stations to ensure the quality is consistent and always pure. This ensures a spot-free, streak-free finish on a surface when the water naturally evaporates. No minerals are left behind on the surface and the result is absolutely Spotless!

My window cleaner once used a ladder and cloths, why has he changed his method?

This is known as traditional window cleaning. While it can be effective, working from ladders is slower, more physically demanding and carries greater safety risks than modern water-fed pole systems.

Many window cleaners have now switched to a water fed pole system as it is safer and more efficient. Through this water fed pole system, window cleaners can use pure water which will leave a spotless finish with no drying processes needed.

Why did you switch and what impact did this have?

“I switched mainly due to safety and practicalities. Nearly 15 years of climbing up and down a ladder, I am lucky I only slipped once. I definitely switched because of safety and fatigue. Carrying a ladder, and climbing up and down it, multiple times a day is very tiring. Perhaps if I was a very young lad, I would be fine, but not now.”

“Every customer visit was double the length of time with traditional window cleaning. I can do a house in half the time now with a water fed pole system.

“Most people are happy with the new system as it leaves a far better clean, especially on the white frames. Also, because there is no soapy residue left on the glass, the dust in the air won’t collect on the window. The windows are left spotless!”

“In the early days when I switched to the water fed pole system, people couldn’t get their head around it! They would ask why I hadn’t dried the windows.”

I wouldn’t be window cleaning still if it wasn’t for the water fed pole system and Spotless Water. I can clean more houses in a day, get more customers, and earn more money.
