South East Water Restrictions Update

October 9th 2026

Important update for Spotless Water customers in Sussex

South East Water is changing the exemptions to its hosepipe restrictions across parts of Sussex from Friday 9 October 2026. These changes may affect some of the work carried out by Spotless Water customers in the affected areas, including residential window and vehicle cleaning.

We want to keep our customers informed about what these changes mean for their businesses and where they can continue to access pure water.

What is changing?

From Friday 9 October, South East Water is removing most exemptions to its hosepipe restrictions across its Sussex supply area, covering Resource Zones 2 and 3.

This may affect some of the work our customers carry out within these areas. If you work in an affected location, it is important to understand how the updated restrictions apply to your specific activities.

You can find the latest information and guidance in South East Water’s hosepipe restrictions FAQs.

Where are the affected areas?

The changes apply across South East Water’s Sussex supply area in Resource Zones 2 and 3.

The map below shows the areas affected by the changes.

We recommend checking the map and reviewing South East Water’s latest guidance if you carry out work within the affected areas.

Spotless Water stations remain open

Our Spotless Water stations remain open and operational, and you can continue to fill up with pure water.

This includes our Eastbourne station (BN23 6PT), which is located within Resource Zone 3.

You also have the option to fill up at Spotless Water stations outside South East Water’s supply area, including stations supplied by Thames Water.

If you need to demonstrate where you purchased your water, you can log in to your Spotless Water account and print or download a usage statement. This will show the filling station where you purchased your water.

What should I do next?

If you work in South East Water’s affected supply area, we recommend that you:

  • Check South East Water’s latest FAQs to understand how the updated restrictions apply to your work.
  • Review the official map and public notice to check whether your working area is affected.
  • Consider using Spotless Water stations outside the affected supply area where appropriate.
  • Keep a record of your water purchases by downloading a usage statement from your Spotless Water account if you need to demonstrate where you filled up.

Please refer to South East Water’s guidance for clarification on how the restrictions apply to your specific activities.
